Top 7 New Forest Pubs

The New Forest has a wide range of pubs and restaurants catering for all tastes and budgets. Whether you just need to stop and have a drink or would like to share a great meal to remember, the New Forest has a pub to take care of your needs. We’ve lived in the area all of our lives, and these are some of our most favourite pubs in the New Forest.

The Waterloo Arms

Probably our favourite pub (and not just because it’s within walking distance!), the Waterloo Arms is a traditional 17th Century Inn with a traditional thatched roof. Mike and Michelle are great hosts and are sure to offer all customers a warm welcome. They have a a wide range of country ales and a delicious home-cooked menu that that includes fresh seafood, game and daily specials. All guests at at Little Hayes receive a 10% discount too!

The Oak Inn

The Oak Inn is probably the New Forest’s best kept secret, which is still just over a mile from Lyndhurst Village centre. It’s another 17th century building which was once a cider house before eventually evolving into the Oak Inn know today. It has a real traditional country pub atmosphere with bare board floors, beamed ceilings and wooden tables and chairs, and a wood burning stove to help keep you warm and cosy during those long winter nights

The Oak Inn is a real drinkers’ pub which favours locally produced ales, so its a great place to sample traditional New Forest beers. Alongside the ales is a very high-quality, award winning menu.

The High Corner Inn

The High Corner Inn is a real hidden treasure of the New Forest. Situated in the very heart of the New Forest, you’ll need a car (or some strong walking boots and lots of willpower!) to get there but its worth it for the journey alone. Along the way is some of the most spectacular scenery the Forest has to offer. They also offer a range of traditonal pub fayre and some more recognised beers and wines.

The Hobler Inn

The Hobler Inn has the feel of a trendy wine bar while still retaining the character of a country pub. With low ceilings and lots of small nooks and crannies, it has a more private, intimate ambience ensuring you can enjoy the fantastic food on offer.

Beaulieu Road Inn

Set in beautiful open countryside and yet easily accessible from the Beaulieu Road Railway Station, the Beaulieu Road Inn has a warm homely feel inside and a quiet, peaceful garden outside. They also have a simple, delicious menu and a range of local ales. The Beaulieu Road Inn is a great place to begin or end a walk in the New Forest.

Sir Walter Tyrrell

The Sir Walter Tyrrell has spectacular views of the New Forest and is located within 200 yards of Rufus Stone, which marks the spot where King William II was shot and killed with an arrow in 1100AD.Although the building was built in the 1930s, it has a very rustic feel. Decent food and a wide range of drinks, but the location is the real draw here.

The Trusty Servant

Good food and another wide selection of local ales and popular drinks is offered in a quiet, comfortable setting. The picturesque New Forest village of Minstead is the quintessential English country setting and is well worth a visit.
